Child Sexual Abuse Prevention Task Force
The Nevada Task Force on the Prevention of Sexual Abuse of Children was created within the Division of Child and Family Services during the 77th (2013) Legislative Session and signed into law by Governor Brian Sandoval. The task force served to identify strategies, goals, and recommendations for preventing child sexual abuse in Nevada.
The Task Force is no longer a legislative mandate, but organizations throughout the state of Nevada expressed the wish that the Task Force reconvene to address the issue of child sexual abuse prevention in Nevada. The Task Force will continue to provide strategies, goals, and recommendations in order to keep children in Nevada safe from the scourge of child sexual abuse.
Members of the Task Force share the common vision of a world where children have the opportunity to grow up safe, healthy, and whole. Meetings are open to the public and anyone is welcome to become a member of the Nevada Task Force on the Prevention of Sexual Abuse of Children.
As of 2025 the Task Force is no longer active.
2014 Task Force Report
In the original construction of the Task Force on the Prevention of Sexual Abuse of Children, the Task Force created an official report on the state of Nevada’s current prevention efforts regarding the issue of child sexual abuse. The report also includes numerous recommendations for improving prevention and treatment efforts in Nevada for those affected by child sexual abuse. The full report can be found here:

Erin’s Law
On May 27th, 2015, Governor Sandoval signed into law Senate Bill 394, also known as Erin’s Law. This law requires pupils in public schools to be provided with age-appropriate instruction in personal safety specified in the bill to mean “recognition of various hazards and dangers that are particular to children, including, without limitation, the danger associated with unsafe persons, both known and unknown to the child, abuse…and awareness of age-appropriate steps a child may take to avoid, lessen or alleviate those hazards and dangers, including, without limitation, reporting threats of harm to a responsible adult”. In an effort to assist schools with meeting this requirement, which will take full effect in 2020, with minimal disruption to instructional time and no cost to the schools Signs of Hope, Nevada Child Seekers, Prevent Child Abuse Nevada, Safe Nest, and members of law enforcement have assembled this information packet on violence prevention programs available to Clark County schools.
